I'll try to answer your questions:

1. The spacers are not needed in the rear. I put them on because the stock offsets make the rear track about 1 cm wider than the front and I wanted to preserve that.
2. This setup would definitely work with 265 tires too.
3. I wouldn't drive on these tires to the track - wear for nothing and you are screwed if it rains. I changed at the track when I arrived and before I left. About 25 minutes each time, no big deal. I think if you go by yourself everything would fit on the E90. I had a friend bring the E46 as a "support car" with all the stuff.
