I used to drive a fully caged car to and from track events for the last 3+ years... I realize the inherent risks involved - I had padding in all of the "right" places in my last car, but realistically that wouldn't have done much if hit and my hard hit a bar.
Half cage only has the bars behind the driver so presumably a touch safer when on the street - would have to have something go very very wrong for your head to go that far back  : |

I think one is less safe driving a caged car on the street to the track, overall, than running a half cage or just a harness bar
At the end of the day these are not Porsches trying to kill us at the track...
