Sure, straight pipes will be loud but will they sound good? In my opinion, no. You will lose the subtitles and tone changes which define great exhaust sounds and just end up with a wall of roar and rasp. Sound engineers will have spent significant time experimenting with resonators, muffler design, cat placement etc to get to where it is now. You can basically make any car loud, but not all cars can have the potential for great harmonics.
There are loads of muffler options which have very different sounds depending on what you want. Add in test pipes or an X pipe and its a whole other level to consider.
