You can and should buy additional track insurance. I'm on iPhone and can't see your location, but look for local CCA or Porsche club to see where they are going. Most events will start you out in novice group with instructor. It is relatively safe. Not tracking at all is safer, but it is infinitely more safer than trying to drive fast on the streets. I'd say go for it.
