Yes, my son and I drove the M3 from SC to AZ (top down most of the way), but had to stop in Oklahoma City (Jackie Cooper BMW) for the mandatory 1,200 mile service; so yes we took the I-40 Northern route vs the Southern I-10 (was told there was a lot of construction on I-10). Took 2.5 days and we dutifully kept the speed below 100mph and the revs below 5,400rpm.
