Porsches are in a different class on production, cost, value etc. I think the similarities you draw between the M's and the GT3s respectively is valid but it doesn't equate to the same reaction in the secondary market. The market is flooded with poorly taken care of lease turn ins and poorly modded beater M3s already. This doesn't help with value retention on the E92 M3. Plus, porsche GT3 secondary markets are not nearly as fickle about being outdated. Look at the 993. Not even a GT3 but a normal C4S or turbo retains value like a CGT. I can't think of a BMW this side of 1995 that retains value except the 1M and Z8. Both SUPER limited production runs.
