^props for the efforts and compassion - the sad truth, as anyone who has been an addict or has loved and addict will tell you, enabling addicts only hurts them more and extends their misery. Allowing safe havens to inject is enabling. Sadly enabling an addict is worse and more cruel than the firing line that you mentioned. Mis-guided, otherwise kind hearted, people fall prey to this trap too often.
