Here's some pictures of the touch-up method on my M 220s. They used paint to replicate the diamond cut metal.
And then here's a photo of an unfinished section. There's a difference when you get close, but again, from 5ft you really can't tell.
It's hard to capture on with a picture, but on the first photo, about 3 inches down you can see the transition if you look close, but it does blend pretty well.
