I am amazed at how long this engine takes to get up to temp. The S54 took a while, but this is really a long time. The oil temp needle wakes up sooner in the S65, which I think is good for cold start wear, but takes far longer to get up to full temp before you can have any fun. For my CA-driven weekend/canyon car, this thermostat could make some sense.
