At Charlotte this weekend, i basically took the car for a drive off site 15-20 minutes before gridding to get it fully up to temperature. Then started it up in grid 20 minutes or so before running. It would basically be a quarter of the way up to temp before starting it in grid doing it this way. I use the electronic oil level to inform me when the oil is sufficiently up to temp. If its reading, it tends to be that the oil is well up to temp.
