I'm familiar with both. A couple of years ago when I was ordering the first crank, Marine had some surplus S85 cranks they had done for Dinan and discounting. Given proximity and prior business relationship, I suspect Steve is still working with Marine for them. I'm sure he gets better pricing due to volume and orders in batches. If I set my pricing along the lines if theirs I probably could order multiples too.

I prefer to keep things mostly in house, so we do our own machining on the blocks for about 99% of the work. Line boring and honing as about all we contract out now and since we don't really do a lot of engines that need it, doesn't make sense to buy a machine for that. All cylinder boring, honing, and Alusil exposure is done in house. That's a steep learning curve in and of itself so, a lot of research and willingness to learn to get right. Even Dinan had some difficulty with it for a while it, eventually getting the specialist from Rottler out to assist, or so his story went.

In the process of getting the engine dyno set up to do break-in and testing in house, but a few months away from being usable. That will be a good asset as ring break in can be done in controlled manner. It will run using a Motec M150, live tuning quickly yields the optimal VANOS maps with different cams for maximization of VE and then those can be transferred into the OEM DME.
