Mine is still holding up and it is 8 years later.
I think there is a different paint that one can get which is closer to the "soft touch" OEM. I believe that SEM or similar automotive paint catalog is who you would look into. Can't speak to firsthand use but I remember reading about it and thought I would drop a note here.
