I agree. Do you remember that they originally had it as hybrid electric diesel before US market had them switch to hybrid gas electric? If BMW could fit a fully electric motor with 60-100kwH battery that would be amazing.
We have the 8 series now so I think the i8 should stay its green course, hope bmw contiues to advance it and brings nice i5, i3 etc |
That's correct. Electic/diesel was the original powertrain. Allegedly they switched to gas because diesel emissions standards couldn't met*. Personally I think surveys suggested that buyers would turn away from a diesel.
*Difficulty maintaing operating temp of the SCR catalyst.
