I'm scrutinizing my trunk lid, and see no other signs of repair or paint work. Color is on point, orange peal matches hood, and no overspray underneath. With this in mind, it's hard to believe they'd overlook prepping the surface b4 prime and paint. Your theory makes the most sense to me, and I guess I gotta deal with it. Fortunately it's almost invisible under natural light. Thanks.
PS. I made another pass with the wheel for a goof, and the results are non existent.
