This car has 78k miles. Owner drove it as his daily car. One day he started hearing knock and brought it to us.

He drove with the windows up all the time, so he did not hear the slight knocking it had caused. Eventually it started knocking and he could hear it inside the cabin. Once he heard it, he rolled down the window and realized how bad it was. Unfortunately it was too late and the crankshaft has been damaged. Scored beyond repair, we now must replace the crankshaft.

A new crankshaft from BMW is over $2,000. Labor time is 31 hours!

This is something you want to avoid by performing the rod bearing service!

Please everyone, take care of your car and avoid this highly labor intensive repair.

We'll be updating this thread with the job and show you guys the damages rod bearing failure causes!
