The anonymity of the Internet makes acting like a jerk too easy. The overwhelming majority of jerks on the Internet wouldn't have the rocks to act like that to one of their cubicle mates. You have to take what you read on a forum in that context.
The more important question is why does anyone care about some strangers opinion on the Internet? I'm sure there are plenty of guys (and chicks) that can afford an M3 but choose a Camaro because that's what they like.
