Genuine E90/92/93 M3s are quite available in Australia. They used to be expensive, but the last 2-3 years the prices have come down a lot.
It would have made more sense to do a replica build in other countries where M3s are not available or have import tax, but I've had fun along the way anyway. However I probably wouldn't have started it now with the current low prices on the real M3s ;-)
I started this with an impulse buy of the wreck back in 2013, so I spent $$$$$ on the parts donor when it was only 6 months old. I had it in storage without doing much at all to it (other than collecting parts) until about 2 years ago. Then I found the nearly free E90-shell and slowly have done everything DIY.
Here is a photo taken today.
So, its almost complete. I will be spraying more clear coat on some panels to fix some of the imperfections. And I'm still missing a few parts.
