Well, this got interesting quick----LY. I do believe that people who can afford a BMW are likely be in the upper echelons of cognitive ability, even if their parents bought the car for them, assuming they're not adopted. IQ is a relatively good predictor for eventual socioeconomic attainment, even better than SES of origin. IQ is also well correlated with level of education achieved. Because of it's association with what people seem to believe to be intrinsic value, and because some people just expect (or claim) too much from psychometrics (especially with regard to race, in the past), few tests are more criticized than IQ tests.

Many of the people who are in this forum from the US grew up during the advent of gifted testing in school. These kids are/were initially screened, then given one-on-one IQ tests administered by a psychologist. People who report the results of these tests are likely reporting something of relatively high validity.

To classify all internet IQ tests as invalid is sort of like saying that everything in a bookstore is crap. That being said, there is a lot of crap out there. Still, some of these silly looking things really do evaluate aspects of one's intelligence, even if it they are some funny looking visuospatial exercises with mirror images.

I had to answer Asian/Pacific Islander on admission forms. It probably would have helped to answer other or leave it blank, but then it's hard to fool the interviewer.

Here in Pittsburgh we have a restaurant chain called Eat'N Park. Who Dey? WE DEY!
