Yeah, this is where IS lenses earn their high cost. I rented a 70-200mm F4L (non-IS) a few weeks ago and was bummed at how hard it was to keep steady. Glad I don't have to qualify with a rifle any more. I couldn't hit shit. Any telephoto lens I buy from now on will have to have IS.

You must have been reading my mind. We should start a thread for folks to post past fireworks pics and maybe some info on how they got the shot. I'm going to try my hand at it this year with the new gear.
