Funny, you should have looked more into it before responding.
The HSV was only allowed to participate in the Super GT because Honda submitted it's plans to the Japanese Automobile Federation and was granted permission. The rules state that to compete in Super GT, the basic car
must be production ready but does not necessarily have to be in production (same loophole Toyota used to run the Supra's for so long).
