I would have to check what the manual actually says, but I do know that the car will not read it until it's up to operating temp. The car will definitely check it once it's warm after each start of the engine. When I was working on this particular customer's car last week, it would only take ~5mins for it to check it once at operating temp. No driving required. Just made sure it was on level ground.
