+1 on Intercity lines. They're great.
Another thing to consider when shipping open or enclosed is the number of transfer points for the car. Many shippers will stop at hubs and transfer your car to another truck. You risk damage every time they do this.
I was able to ship cross country with intercity, single truck. Loaded with me watching, unloaded with me watching. It took a bit longer and they, of course, made other stops along the way.
Ask whatever company you deal with about this.
