To change regulations and destabilize those with a specific rake and under body/floor design, and with the most planted rear end. Done intentionally to benefit rb and the others.
Indeed...as it has always been in F1.
The regulations have always been refined to try and diminish the advantage any particular team has developed. Be it Ferrari McLaren Williams Red Bull or Mercedes etc.
Reducing the rear floor area was chosen as it reduces the rear downforce which will be most especially disruptive on long wheel base cars such as the Mercedes...bad also for the Racing Point which showed a big improvement in the 2020 season having also moved to a lwb concept.

The "show" always comes first...any suggest of bias to one team or another (Ferraris veto notwithstanding) is just the usual fan boys whine.

Be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Red Bull have already copied the Mercedes rear suspension and Mercedes may have to run more rake...yet moving from a lwb low rake to a lwb with higher rake will not be without significant problems.
The first race can't come soon enough.
