I understand there's a replacement pigtail, but does anyone here have any info of the connection? If I could find the other 'end' of my cable, I could at least try a short term fix.

The wire should be still hanging down there, remove the plenum and search on the left middle/front side of the car. Next to where the oil fill cap is.
You can splice the wires and solder them back together. If you have trouble, cut off the plastic shielding with some small cutters or with an utility knife. Then before you solder the wires slide in a tube of heat-shield to cover it all after you done repairing the wire. Electrical tape wrapped around it is also fine.
