It overflows when you use the power steering a lot. Fast back and forth steering on mountain roads or anywhere else you are working the power steering hard. The M3 is a heavy car so the power steering gets hot - that fluid expansion is what causes the overflow.

Has anyone tried higher temp power steering fluid?
