I literally just made the same exact move you are contemplating. Had a F80 M3 and traded it in for a 718 Cayman (manual of course) + an economical SUV still to be determined. Very happy with my decision so far.
I have always only had one car and if one car is the only option the M3 is hard to beat for all around performance and practicality. But, ultimately I wanted to try a two car setup with a true sports car and practical daily.
