Because they actually know what they're doing and don't just slap stuff together without thinking every aspect and angle through.
Why is it that porsche switched to electric steering but it's still better than everyone else's (but they're own) hydraulic steering? It's the same as above. They simply over engineer what they build and think things through.

Like with the SQ5, great concept but what seeks like poor execution.
Let's throw in a hopped up S4 motor and lower it a bit. Boom, it's an S model now. Need someone to fine tune the driving characteristics.
I think I need to drive a Cayenne to get a baseline.
