Thanks for the tip. I unplugged everything, USB, phone charger, and aux in, and the front channels came alive! Plugged it all back in and everything is fine. Not sure why unplugging them individually didn't do anything and switching sources to AM/FM or CD were affected too

Why are you still using that?
MD is pretty dated but I still have some great underground hip hop shows I recorded off university radio stations many years ago. You have no idea how long I had a high end cassette deck so I could keep listening to my mixed tapes! You couldn't even buy a blank tape when I finally gave it up.
