I would not limit it to 2.5k. C'mon, that's not much above idle. I don't think you necessarily HAVE to go through the whole range up to 5.5k, but you need to actually break it in. 2.5 ain't gonna do it. I was pretty easy on it the first couple hundred, then worked it a little higher now and again. It's at just over 1000 now and I have been right up to 5k at a little over half throttle a few times this week, only after it is fully warmed up. I consider this to be babying it. Next week, over 1200 miles and I will start working it over 5.5k, gradually working up to redline and WOT somewhere between 2k and 3k miles.
