For the record, I proved that the oil level sensor doubles as a temp sensor, and ended this nonsense, not Mike. Took me some digging in old 2005 E60 M5 engine photo scanned documentation that I have. As for knowing that the coolant temp sensor is not measuring oil temperature, I suspect 95% of people on the forum with a modicum of common sense knew that despite the years long confusion, but thanks..
