Can't really comment because that day was my first track day (I was crawling around the track in a beginners group, lulz), and had it on only for 1 session.
But, I'm sure it's much better than nothing.
As to how much protection it'll provide... you need to consider the thickness of this film, plus the speed on the track, etc.
I have Xpel self-healing clear bra on my new car, but I don't expect it to be be-all, end-all solution. I mean, if my car gets hit with big enough rock at the track... forget it.
