Just in case try the following on your iPhone:
Settings
Bluetooth
Chose your car ej. BMW XXXX (right arrow)
Turn off Sync Contacts
If contacts are the problem that will solve it until you delete duplicates
To see if you have duplicates go to:
Contacts
Groups (top left corner)
Choose Show all contacts
Then you can see if you have duplicates
If you have too many contacts that may also be the problem
