Yeah, the R888 was, and always will be, a total waste of money. Still not sure why that tire is still produced.
Sorry to hear you got screwed. Lesson learned.
A tire we have used for racing that hold up well with track use is the Hankook Ventus RS4. That said, the Hankooks are close to the same price as the Pilot Sport 4S. My PS4S tires have 20,000KM+ on them and the rears are not even half worn yet - fronts look near new (perhaps I need to drive faster...).
At least you got a clean set of wheels!!
