I just look at my old E46 330i from 2003 and it offers a better driving experience vs the vast majority of new cars today costing $30-40k..even though its not faster by any means. I hope BMW continues in producing cars that offer something unique and relevant 5-10 yrs later or beyond. With the E9x M3 (further confirmed by this article) I would say it resoundingly succeeded!
Faster doesnt always mean better. The examples of this are abundant. Its why when you look at best driver's car by MT or the best driving car under 100K, it wasnt always the outright fastest car to win.
