I would avoid buying in California if you can. If you can buy in Oregon or Washington go that route. You WONT pay sales tax (Oregon if resident over 6 months) and for 2-3 years of registration it ran me $45. I have had my 2014 decal when I bought in 2011.
If you must buy in California go with a board dealer. They have shown they give good discounts.
