Wanting to branch out after moving to a different city you grew up in, or even one you did for the matter doesn't mean "unable to make friends", but I get your point.
Lets be honest, once your out of school and working, and the majoirty of your friends have settled down with s/o's and kids, things become a bit more difficult for everyone.
