I doubt much water would get in since the air will be moving horizontally over the surface of the hood, thus pushing the water backward when it needs to go down and forward to get in the slats of the hood.
But whatever water that gets in through the vented hood will probably pale in comparison to the water that gets in through the kidney grills.
