I did this as well and even after 4 years it still looked perfect. Previous owner of my car used to keep their sunglasses in there so of course there were a ton of scratches on the blue AR coating. Moron.
It's a bit time consuming but I wouldn't say it's that difficult. You can also just buy a replacement used screen on eBay if you want the 5 minute solution.
