they only new rule i don't care for is that you have to state which session your best lap is going to be in. we all know that things don't work out that way... traffic, etc..

I think you misread that. They are saying if you buy multiple run groups, you have to pick which run group will count before session 1 starts. So if you are in Red and Green groups, you have to decide which run group will count for your laps.
