Doing my plugs without a coil puller tool and found this to be really easy. Even got this 'topped' coil out with ease. In skydiving we call them "pull up cords" and use them to pack parachutes. It's just a length of webbing. The one I used was actually a Gucci bag tie.
IMHO better than a hanger as it's not metal, won't scratch, and can get leverage around a bends.
