If we could meet-up in Clayton GA there is a nice route of back roads. From Clayton we could take War Woman RD to Hwy 28 north a few miles to Blue Valley/ Clear Cr. Rd. (1613) which loops back around to 28 then south a few miles to Rich Gap (1710). Here there is about 1 mile of smooth gravel road. To Horse Cove Road (great tight turn switchbacks) into Highlands.
