I was raised differently, and started buying "nicer' cars once I thought everything else is covered... house, student loans from my wife, college fund for the kiddo, savings/investments, etc... I had to wait until I was 38 and I feel very lucky about that. But I pass no judgement on anybody who goes through life differently.
I pass no judgement either, but I would offer some advice. Long term success and happiness in life is about balance. In this case, finding a balance between enjoying the present and planning for the future. If someone bought a new M3 and then has to scrape by with other stuff to make ends meet, they have tipped that balance too much to living in the present.
