Actually I am not sure that there are many year-round alternatives for tough Canadian winters. It would have to be an SUV but very few of them, if any, can compare to M3 dynamics. I though the M40i would come close but I guess I was wrong.

Maybe the new X3M would come closer, but it will be quite pricey ..

Maybe you have to work on your mindset. If you're driving something in the winter that's not the M3, just remember that little buddy isn't trying to be an M3. It's helping you safely get from A to B, taking all the hits and scrapes and rubs. It's helping you with your day to day, and helping M3 stay safe at home so you can enjoy it even longer. Of course I have no idea what I'm talking about because I live where I can drive my M3 everyday ):
