Love the RS4. Back in 2008 I was going back and forth between a new RS4 vs E90 M3. The cars were literally side by side at the dealer. Both black, RS4 had platinum pack.
RS4 was fantastic drive, loved the thumping V8. AWD is nice. Manual was slick.
But the E90 M3 was more dynamic and a bit more eventful. Plus the E90 JUST came out, where the RS4 was in the last run of that A4 class.
E90 M3 manual was the choice, never looked back.
Although I do have that RS4 engine now behind my head in my R8 V8 thumping
