Ok, here's how I see it. I have female friends that I only see as friends. Those girls are girlfriends of my friends, close family friends and there are a few that I am not attracted to because of personality or lack of attractiveness, etc. But, if you're talking about the girl that I've been talking to for the past month and she "just wants to be friends," a true friendship will never develop. I prefer not to put myself in a situation where every time I hang out with that girl, I'm thinking "what if..."
The minute a girl says she's friends with you, you've been friend zoned for life. Getting out of the friend zone is nearly impossible. Hence why guys can't be friends with girls.
