This day and age there would have to be some pretty bad reasons to repaint a car when wraps are as good as they are and would cost far less than a proper paint job. I would guess substantial body work was done and covered up, or they did not pay for a proper paint job (which would require a full trim-off prep, and all door jams, trunk, engine bay, etc be painted).
I would bet Maaco was involved, so unless documentation to the contrary was provided and validated I would pass.
