It is so the person who does the delivery can confirm it was the correct location. I have seen examples where pictures showed the box behind a plant, chair, or something to hide it from the view of people on the sidewalk or street. Where even the person who is receiving the package might not see it.
I like the idea. I ship to my work so I don't care if they take pics of our building. Some people might not like the pics. So at least you have an option to not have pictures taken.
