Umm, why would you leave your keys behind? Sort of asking for it really.

Doesn't make it right, I'd be pissed, but honestly, not sure what I'd do. How good a friend is this roommate? If a good friend, I'd let it go. If just a roommate, man I don't know. Maybe tell him the service is due and since he put all the miles on it, he has to pay for the service. A nice $200- $300 bill will make him think twice next time.

But definitely ask him what happened, don't accuse him right off the bat. Ask him why he thought that was appropriate and how he plans to compensate you for the use of your car / all those extra miles? Ask him, don't demand. He'll probably think your a prick because you aren't inclined to just let him do whatever he wants with YOUR stuff, but you know, next time he won't use your stuff. Or even better, maybe he won't want to associate with you because you aren't tolerant of letting him have a free ride in life and he'll move out.
