Just look at cars in the desert with faded paint: it's always the roof, hood, and trunk. These panels get the most direct UV exposure.
Proper care, such as waxing, will greatly slow down the degradation.

This. Definitely make sure you wax regular and even a proper ceramic coating treatment will go miles! Not only for the roof, but getting the whole car done!
