As a former dealer, I can you tell you that Carfax is a complete joke. I had cars in the shape of boomerang from previous accidents and they had a clean carfax. When buying a car like E92 M3, the biggest focus should be maintenance history and not carfax/autocheck. One should definitely perform a PPI but at the end of the day one is buying a 10-12-year-old car, so most will have accident history by now even if it is not reflected in Carfax.
